Scottish Social Enterprise Group, Link, roll out Google Apps
Award winning Link Group, one of the largest social landlords in Scotland, with over 10,000 customers across 26 Scottish local authorities, have taken their organisation into the cloud with Google Apps.
The organisation that provides affordable housing, property management, regeneration and employability services, have recently more than doubled their users and now has over 700 of its team working collaboratively and flexibly using Google Apps.
Initially Link were looking to improve their email system and move it out onto a cloud based service that was available around the clock, but the benefits have been more far reaching. Not only are employees now able to work whenever and wherever they want, it has also enabled better Business Continuity, by allowing all staff to communicate with each other at all times, even if there is a problem at one of their main offices.
With the support of Leeds based Google Reseller, Refractiv, Link have also taken advantage of Google Sites and now run Board and Committee communications using Google services. They have an interactive Extranet for Board Members to pick up information on meetings online, so no longer need to print off and circulate board papers, saving time, cost and possibly a small rainforest!
Having seen tangible benefits of the changes they have already made, the organisation’s next aim is to continue down the Google Apps path and start looking at using Google Drive for document storage and developing Google Sites further to improve Business Reporting.
As a social enterprise, our vision is to improve the lives of people, both inside and outside our organisation, so we’re a progressive and responsive organisation and are always looking for ways to improve the way we work. That’s why Google Apps is perfect for us; it has delivered cost savings and improved communication across the whole workforce, accessing our data is no longer a problem and the ability to work from all devices has improved collaboration too.
