Google Apps solves business scalability challenges

Online document access and improved collaboration through Google Apps means Fit for Print can look towards the future unencumbered by unnecessary overheads.

The Challenge

Fit for Print, the London-based media business, provides high-quality copy for national press broadsheets, industry and specialist publications and periodicals, and corporate literature primarily in the financial business and related sectors. The company operates almost entirely online using an extensive network of highly regarded specialist writers and journalists to deliver its services.

In order to run and operate the business, it had become essential for staff and associates to have online access to documents and to collaborate over content when required. The legacy Office products the team were using were unsuited to the demands of the business and had the potential to limit productivity.  A flexible and cost effective solution was required to support the business' rapid growth.

The Solution

Refractiv proposed a hybrid solution which involved extending the corporate website to external users as well as using Google Apps for Business to provide email, shared calendar and general document sharing and collaboration.

The implementation has proved highly successful. The team collaborate over vital documents, share calendars and access email remotely, without the need for expensive in-house technology and associated support costs. The business is now executing its growth plans utilising the new scalability of its systems and processes.

"With significant growth we needed to focus all our resources and investment on our clients' needs and wants. Refractiv act as our IT infrastructure provider in a number of areas and the proposition and implementation of Google Apps has allowed us to concentrate on clients without increasing risks or significantly increasing spend around IT."
