Online security healthcheck boosts member benefits

The Information Security Forum (ISF) is the world's leading independent authority on information security. A not-for-profit organisation, the forum delivers practical guidance to its 300 members to overcome the wide-ranging security challenges impacting business information today.

Refractiv developed a web-based online security health check for the ISF, enabling member companies to rate their security levels against worldwide industry standards and other organisations. The six-month project involved upgrading the existing spreadsheet application to an internet based questionnaire, allowing the ISF to assess strengths and weaknesses from a single document and compare a company’s performance against their own sector standards. Companies can then use this information to identify risks, increase security awareness, improve standards and monitor performance.

"It was very clear what the ISF wanted, so we had a strong vision of the direction of the project from the beginning. The questionnaire involved seven stages of design and development and we produced three prototypes to enable the ISF to revise it to their exact specifications. The security health check is now up and running successfully, and as new standards arise to meet developing technology, the questionnaire can be updated. This was a model project for us and demonstrates how effective collaborative development can be."
